Our Mornings................
Sleep still softly
Looms over me.
I open my eyes,
Blink twice,
Thrice, maybe,
And then I'm asleep again.
A few minutes' deep slumber,
An overflow of dreams -
Vague, but soothing.
I am, it seems,
In a trans-like state -
Awake, yet sleeping.
The sun is now ascending
From my legs, to the white covers.
A warmth touches my neck,
And I lie, basking in it.
Sunkissed bare arms, bare shoulders.
My eyes crinkle,
Against the brightness.
I turn away and bury my face
In the pillow.
I open one eye, and from its corner,
I steal a look at you.
I want to come close,
To sink into you,
But in that semi-consciousness,
You're a fantasy, no less.
I can just smile at you,
And wonder if it could be true.
With that smile, with that dream
I fall asleep, for what seems
Like a long time. For in that time,
My dreams have become reality,
My fantasy is so seductively close to me.
Eyes meet, softly blink.
Even before there's time to think,
I am held captive in your arms - near, then nearer.
Whispers that mean nothing, just sound right,
And hugs and cuddles, and kisses all over.
